Introduction — Misty Robinson
A short video library built from your actual plan and vendor materials, hosted by someone who spent nearly six years inside TPA operations. Built once, then reused across every group in your book, every plan year.
The pattern
There's a better way to do this — and the research backs it up.
What the research shows
of employees don't fully understand any of the benefits they enrolled in — rising to 54% among millennials. Voya Financial
simply re-select the same plan as the prior year. Voya Financial / HRMorning
of employers believe their employees have a high-level understanding of their benefits. Mercer
of employees want help understanding their benefits year-round — not just at open enrollment. Voya Financial
The case for video
83% of people prefer to consume instructional or informational content by watching a video, more than double the next two preferred options combined. TechSmith 2024 Video Viewer Study
87% of viewers prefer a real person over an animated character or AI avatar. TechSmith 2024 Video Viewer Study
Decades of research by Richard Mayer at UC Santa Barbara established the multimedia principle for effective instructional video. Mayer, Evidence-Based Principles for Instructional Video
One library means every group, every location, and every new hire in March gets the same explanation your October meeting delivered. Multilingual versions come from the same source content.
What each video includes
Scripted off your plan documents and vendor collateral. No generic stock explanation of what an HSA is.
60 to 90 seconds, same presenter across the whole library, so your groups get one consistent voice.
Your branding, captions, and files sized for member portals, enrollment email, and group meetings.
Scope
Plus an individual explainer for every vendor your members will use during the plan year — pharmacy, networks, telehealth, advocacy, and anything else in your stack.
Built once around your vendor stack.Used across every group, every year.
Examples
Two examples from a sample library — one group announcement, one vendor explainer.
Open Enrollment Announcement — Sample Group
Pharmacy Benefit Explainer — Sample Vendor
Every library is built around your vendor stack and customized for each employer group.
Timing
Production runs three to four weeks from approved scripts, depending on how many vendors are in your stack. Building in late summer means your videos are finished, approved, and ready before your enrollment calendar fills — and every group you onboard afterward pulls from a library that already exists.
Wait until October, and it becomes one more thing competing for attention during your busiest season.
About
I spent nearly six years inside a TPA in the reinsurance marketing department, handling everything from RFPs and implementation to open enrollment materials.
Today I create professional spokesperson and educational video content for organizations that need to explain complex information clearly.
Next step
That's where this should start. Let's have a conversation.
